GLENDALE PHOTOGRAPHS
This photograph was taken at the home of Julia Ann Poth in Glendale.  Julia was the daughter of Ulysses Jackson, son of Daniel Jackson, who platted Hudsonville.  Ulysses, seated on the right, died in 1911 and at that time was living with his daughter Julia Ann Poth.  Due to his advanced age in this photograph, it can be assumed that it was taken around 1911.
Seated on the left of Ulysses is William Jackson one of Ulysses' sons.  William fought in the Civil War with Co. G, 42nd Indiana Volunteers and was wounded in the battle of Perryville.
Joseph Jackson, another son of Ulysses lied about his age and volunteered for the Union Army at the age of 16.  He died in the military hospital at Knoxville after the battle of Tazewell.  He is buried in the military cemetery under the name of Joseph "R" Jackson when his name is Joseph K. Jackson.  The recorder using longhand made the "K" look like an "R" The records mistakingly show Joseph K. as Joseph R.
I would assume that Julia is standing behind Ulysses and William's wife is standing behind him.
In this photo, William Jackson returns to the site pf the Battle of Perryville and points to the spot where he was wounded.

Around 1927, the Jackson family held a reunion at the Poth farm located in Glendale on the north side of the Glendale-Pennyville road where it intersects with the road going south to Hudsonville.  This group photograph was made by Orel Chapman The identity of the people numbered are as follows:
